Dr. Jessica Kaplan
Pediatrician in San Francisco and Mill Valley, CATown and Country Pediatric Medical Associates
Dr. Kaplan has been practicing in SF since completing her residency in the mid-1990s.
She is originally from New York and attended Skidmore College (BA in Psychology and Biology). After completing medical school at The Sackler School of Medicine/New York State American Program at Tel Aviv University she landed in San Francisco for Pediatric Residency at CPMC and has not left.
Dr. Kaplan is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been a hospital-based instructor for Neonatal Advanced Life Support and has had extensive experience as a critical care neonatal hospitalist working with the San Francisco Neonatology Medical group of California Pacific Medical Center-(aka Pediatrix Medical Group). In addition, she was a critical care transport physician and emergency room physician and has worked as a general pediatrician in other San Francisco pediatric settings.
She is well versed in providing care for NICU graduates and growing preterm infants with and without medical issues.
Dr. Kaplan also is a volunteer preceptor to second-year medical students in Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
She sees herself as a partner in parenting, practicing evidence-based care and is a proponent of vaccines as prevention. In her general approach with families, she enjoys getting to know families and personalizing care as a parents perspectives on family, preventive care, and child-rearing unfold. One might consider that “reality-based pediatrics” could describe her approach to care as an experienced physician and parent.
Dr. Kaplan is currently living in Mill Valley with her husband, David, son, Daniel and her new pooch named Kobe.
